February 10 in San Antonio history...

 1870
A resolution is passed by city council to donate 40 acres of ground to the military on the eastern  portion of the city, on the site of the government corral near the present site of the post.  By this  grant, San Antonio won the military from Austin.  The post would become Fort Sam Houston.

1926
Sheriff’s deputies uncovered what they believe to have been a plot to blow up historic San Jose Mission. Several sticks of explosives, the type used in blasting operations, were found within 50 feet of the mission’s rear door.

1930
When Sgt. A. F. Farrar jumped from a disabled Dodd Field plane, the form-fitting, back-type parachute
designed by Master Sgt. E. H. Nichols, Brooks Field, received its first emergency test and proved highly successful.

February 6 in San Antonio history...

 1927

Another hotel of 12 stories and basement will be built in San Antonio immediately. To be known as the Blue Bonnet, the 200-room structure will be constructed at St. Mary’s and Pecan at a cost of $1,708,500.

Balcones Heights, which incorporated November 13, elected Clyde Crews mayor (below) and John Casper, city marshal.
