November 21 in San Antonio history...

San Antonio police, armed with 12-gauge riot guns, launched "Operation Bird Kill" at City Hall.  The hunt, which began at 2:30 a.m., was designed to drive the cowbirds away from City Hall after they had become a nuisance, both noisy and unsanitary.

Scheduled dedication ceremonies for the new John F. Kennedy High School have been postponed.

Big Brother and the Holding Company, featuring Janis Joplin, are scheduled to play a concert in Hemisfair Arena but the show is cancelled at the last minute.

Adela Navarro of the Texas Hispanic-American History Institute urged SADA commissioners to remove the statue of Ben Milam from Milam Park and restore the name to "El Campo Santo" and said that allowing commercial activity at the park would be a "desecration" to the people buried there.
