July 30 in San Antonio history...

The members of the Salvation Army in this city have begun the practice of visiting saloons every evening and giving  an entertainment after which a collection is invariably taken up for the success of the cause.

San Antonio police today said they are alarmed by the sudden increase of juvenile delinquency in this city. Last month, 31 boys were arrested for crimes, other than misdemeanors.  Police asked that a probe be conducted.

County Commissioners Court changed the name of Bexar County Coliseum to Joe Freeman Coliseum.  In changing the name of the building, members of the court noted that "through his untiring efforts and unslefish and liberal donations, Joe Freeman, an outstanding citizen of San Antonio and Bexar County, is responsible for a coliseum of which all Bexar County may be proud."
