July 23 in San Antonio history...

1885
The first shipment of rails for the S.A. & A.P. railway arrived in San Antonio.

1972
Focus IV Computer Systems, located at 2103 Mannix, exhibited a computer system designed for small and medium sized businesses.  The system consists of a "central processor computer, a video display and keyboard, a dual-disc storage system and a serial impact printer with a forms tractor."  It sold for "less than $40,000," including programming.

1978
Sanitation workers in San Antonio go on strike.  Tensions are inflamed when City Manager Tom Huebner states that, "Those positions are easily filled."

1985
The San Antonio Gunslingers play their final game, a home game against the Portland Breakers, ironically the same team (then called the New Orleans Breakers) that they played in their very first game on Feb. 26, 1984.  They go out winners, 21-13, in front of 19,603 fans at Alamo Stadium.
