June 9 in San Antonio history...

1898
The county commissioners this morning examined the work on the new cells in the city jail recently removed from the basement of the courthouse and decided to accept them.

1908
Alderman Dietzmann today said he favors a law requiring that each balloonist pay a license of $27 per year for the privilege of navigating the San Antonio atmosphere. He said there is no telling when one is apt to fall on us.

1918
In broad daylight under the eyes of detectives and scores of patrolmen, a daring San Antonio thief stole a policeman's horse, tied directly in front of police headquarters. A general pursuit failed to catch him.
