June 29 in San Antonio history...

1844
City Council proposes to erect a building to be used as a courthouse and public school building. The sum of $80 was appropriated for the purpose of putting the building then occupied in order to serve said purposes.

1913
Rainfall in San Antonio total .94 inch, with other South Texas cities reporting .5 to 1.6 inches at Corpus Christi.

1973
Tom Nissalke, former coach of the ABA Dallas Chapparals and the NBA Seattle Supersonics, is named the first head coach of the San Antonio Spurs.

1979
Dr. Ronald K. Calgaard is installed as the 16th president of Trinity University.  Dr. Calgaard previously served as the vice-chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Kansas.
