June 18 in San Antonio history...

1909
At a meeting of the county commissioners, a petition asking that the named of the Hoefling, Jones-Maltsberger, Coker-Maltsberger and Lockhill-Selma roads be changed to that of Sommers Road was granted.

1939
On the anniversary of his famed flight to Ireland, Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan took as his bride yesterday afternoon, his childhood sweetheart, Miss Elizabeth Marvin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Marvin,  507 Terrell Rd.  The wedding was in the chapel of the First Baptist Church.


1971
Southwest Airlines begins air service to San Antonio, Dallas and Houston with six roundtrips DAL-SAT and 12 roundtrips DAL-IAH with $20 one-way fares.
