June 13 in San Antonio history...

In no uncertain terms, Mayor C.W. Chambers today demanded the Order of the Alamo must either stage its 1929 coronation in Municipal Auditorium or San Antonio's streets will be barred to Fiesta de San Jacinto parades.

Col. W.B. Tuttle Today said he is impatiently awaiting the start of a survey by Army engineers to determine the practicality of a river canal from San Antonio to the Gulf of Mexico.  The 140-mile proposed canal would follow the San Antonio River to the Guadalupe and continue alone that river to the gulf.

San Antonio city officials today belatedly discovered they faced a deficit of $200,000 for municipal operations during the fiscal year which ended May 31.  Officials said 80 percent tax collections are needed to balance the budget.
