April 9 in San Antonio history...

1910
The gentle art of lifting one's skirts is one every woman should learn.  You do not consider it immodest to be seen in a bathing suit cut to the knees - why is it immodest to cross wet pavements with skirts held well above the ankle?

1960
A 24-year-old San Antonio man was remanded to jail today awaiting psychiatric examinations after being charged with disturbing the peace during Central Assembly of God worship services last evening.  The man tried to kiss the preacher's daughter.

1970
The City Council voted 5 to 4 to approve a permit for a Fiesta Week carnival using public and/or private land and excluding only the public streets.
