April 8 in San Antonio history...

1900
West Side residents today began salvaging what they could of their homes after heavy rains caused an overflow of the San Pedro Creek.  Almost every house along the creek beginning at San Pedro Springs suffered heavy damage.

1950
Kelly Air Force Base today were probing the crash of a giant B-29 bomber northwest of the field.

1970
Superbaby.  That's what Baptist Memorial Hospital has tagged Robert Daniel Sczepanik, two-day-old heavyweight born April 6.  Mighty Robert weighed in at 13 pounds, 6.5 ounces, to set a possible record for the hospital in baby weights.
