April 27 in San Antonio history...

1909
The new, eight-story hotel at Houston and St. Mary's yesterday was formally christened "The Gunter." It was named after the late Jot Gunter, a leading figure in the syndicate which acquired the property.

1929
Much in the manner of her famous fiance, Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, Miss Anne Morrow slipped into and out of San Antonio early this morning.

1959
A hotel parking lot attendant was booked for theft over $50 in connection with an unauthorized "joyride" in King Antonio's Cadillac.

1986
The first heart transplant in San Antonio was performed by a team of surgeons from Medical Center Hospital and the UT Health Science Center.
