Two world's records were broken at Kelly Field when Lt. Matthew E. Finn flew his single-engine plane 110 miles an hour and Lt. Hez McClellan recorded "the tremendous speed of 150 miles an hour" in a multi-engine job.

FBI Agent R. C. Suran said three Nazis who escaped from a POW camp at Brady were at large in the San Antonio area.
