Express wagons and moving vans will, in all probability, not be permitted to stand on Alamo Plaza within the next few weeks, said Mayor Bryan Callaghan.

Lefty Gomez, the New York Yankees' great southpaw pitcher and Joe DiMaggio, called the greatest outfielder, got together at the breakfast table Monday at the Gunter Hotel.

Nearly 600 enumerators and 36 crew leaders fanned out in the Alamo City today to kick off the 1960 census.

1978
Downtown entertainer, "Bongo Joe" Coleman, assisted police in apprehending a knife-wielding robber who stole $8 of costume jewelery from S.H. Kress & Co.  Joe gave the suspect a ride on his motorized bicycle and drove him to a coffee shop at 4th and Broadway where the robber was arrested.  He was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and held on an $8,946.50 bond.
