The police chief will be elected at the coming election instead of being appointed.

1931
Declaring that property at Pecan and Jefferson streets was used exclusively for church purposes between 1890 and 1918, officals of St. Mark's Episcopal church have filed a petition with the city asking that back taxes be cancelled.

1951
All denominations will be able to hear Dr. Billy Graham, nationally known evangelist, when he speaks at the Municipal Auditorium Thursday evening, according to Dr. Perry F. Webb, local chairman.
