January 4 in San Antonio history...

1891
The passengers are complaining of the sharp, pointed and unwieldy gates on the new streetcars. A number of dresses have been torn on them already.

1921
The city commission appropriated $22,000 yesterday for improvement of Locust and N. Flores streets.

1931
Modernistic art, an aftermath of the World War, does not have the permanent hold it is supposed to have on the American continent and will go as rapidly as it came, according to Miss Waldine Amanda Tauch, student of Pompeo Coppini, sculptor.
