January 29 in San Antonio history...

1910
Baliffs cried out for order this morning amidst the battle of words that broke out between Asst. Dist. Atty. C. M. Chambers and John H. Clark, defending attorney in the 37th District Court.  Reports are that a cry for order was heard several times.

1930
A crowd of about 4,000 turned out to hear Al Jolson in concert at the Municipal Auditorium last night.

1960
Reversing a previous ban on fireworks within the city limits, the City Council granted permission to stage a July 4 fireworks display at Playland Park and to the Optimists and Lions Clubs for a show at Mission Stadium in May.
