December 8 in San Antonio history...

1890
The street car company was disposing of its large number of mules at a rapid pace. Sixty-four of the animals had already been sold for $45 each.

1930
The Southern Pacific office in Boerne was badly damaged when thieves used explosives to blow open a safe. The thugs escaped with about $45 cash.

1970
San Antonio conservationists were granted a stay by the U.S. Supreme Court, temporarily blocking construction of the end segments of the controversial North Freeway.
