November 8 in San Antonio history...

1909
The flights being made by Frank W. Goodale in his dirigible at the International Fair convince many spectators that aerial navigation will eventually become commonplace.

1949
San Antonio slums are growing daily, according to Milton Landry, chief building inspector for the city. He said, "Every day we issue permits which create more slums in San Antonio." He urged speed in arriving at minimum standards.

1966
Texas finally votes to abolish the poll tax for state and local elections. The poll tax had been abolished for federal elections in 1964.
