November 21 in San Antonio history...

1896
The city's jailer has found a large quantity of morphine and cocaine hidden in the cells occupied by narcotics addicts.

1953
San Antonio police, armed with 12-gauge riot guns, launced operation "Bird Kill" at City Hall. The hunt, which began at 2:30 a.m., was designed to drive the cowbirds away from City Hall after they had become a nuisance, both noisy and unsanitary.

1963
Scheduled dedication ceremonies for the new John F. Kennedy High School have been postponed.

1992
Athens, Georgia rock group R.E.M. begins filming the video for "Everybody Hurts" on the lower level of I-10 near downtown.
