1887
The firemen of this city declare they are not exempt from the provisions of the Sunday law and say in case of fires in the city on Sunday they will refuse to turn out to extinguish them.

1914
The Harlandale real estate and bath house interests owned by the estate of "Bet-A-Million" Gates were purchased by a Houston syndicate.

1944
When rain leaked on the head of City Atty. Tommy Cobbs during a city council meeting, commissioners called a 10-minute recess so porters could place a bucket under the leak.
