November 1 in San Antonio history...

1889
Boerne hotels are offering assistance in caring for visitors to the fair. They can take care of 250 people, and for supper, lodging and breakfast will charge only $1.25. Visitors can leave San Antonio on the Aransas Pass train at night and return to this city on the morning, the round trip costing 95 cents.

1929
Gutzon Borglum, noted sculptor, will meet with city officals soon to consider final plans for the open air theater to be constructed in the Star Garden at Brackenridge Park.

1949
Dan Gerard and a group of other businessmen are working toward the objective of having San Antonio's chili queens, long ago ousted from Hay Plaza, stage a comeback. They will confer with City Health Director Austin E. Hill.

1992
San Antonio's telephone area code changes from 512 to 210.
