1916
The World Series baseball contest between the Brooklyn Nationals and the Boston Americans was being watched at the Grand Opera House via "the greatest baseball player board ever invented."

1929
Richter's Bakery begins advertising sliced Butter Krust bread along with the traditionally unsliced loaves.

1942
As gallant under tractor guidance as when horses pranced at its head, San Antonio's famous horse-drawn pumper said farewell to the city fire department at landed on the scrap pile at Auditorium Plaza yesterday.


1968
State Rep. Frank Lombardino filed "The University of San Antonio" in the country clerk's office as the name of a future four-year, state-supported university in the city.
