October 31 in San Antonio history...

1874
The bell of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church arrives from Troy, N. Y. It was cast from an old cannon dug up in the Alamo, and was cast at the expense of Samuel A. Maverick.

1925
Police Chief T. O. Miller warned Halloween revelers not to wear masks. Noise makers and confetti were also banned.

1939
Robert Taylor, Hollywood star, was in San Antonio today. He recalled his last visit to the Alamo City when he did a minor part in a picture called "West Point of the Air" at Randolph Field with Wallace Beery and Maureen O' Sullivan.

1993
An artic cold front brings a record low temperature of 27 degrees to San Antonio and breaks a number of records. It is the earliest day that the temperature has dropped into the 20's.
