October 30 in San Antonio history...

1927
Lauding William D. Winburn, San Antonio Light reporter who was killed in a crash at Stinson Field, the city commission tomorrow is due to change the name of the field to Winburn Field in his honor.

1947
Police Chief Fred Palmer today ordered the silencing of ambulance sirens effective immediately. He said the city attorney's office had ruled use of the sirens to be unnecessary.

1958
The city council Thursday agreed to a 3-year contract to permit the San Antonio Little Theater to use the San Pedro Playhouse in return for $2,000 annually or 10 per cent of the theater's gross income whichever is larger.
