October 25 in San Antonio history...

1899
The last of the houses of ill fame on Main Avenue are moving today under instructions from the police and hereafter only respectable persons will be permitted to occupy residences on that thoroughfare.

1909
The Light and Gazette's auto endurance contest to Dallas and return will start tomorrow. On account of rough roads, five hours will be allowed for the first day's run of 80 miles.

1919
The clocks of San Antonio will be set back one hour tonight. For two years, as a war measure enacted by Congress, the clocks have been set forward to "summer time." Determined opposition brought repeal of the measure.
