October 20 in San Antonio history...

1899
The first automobile in San Antonio, an electric, arrived at Staacke Brothers today. However, the batteries did not arrive with the car so the first drive would have to wait.

1902
Complaints are still being made about the brush on Avenue E. A young man hastily trying to get to his bride-to-be's house yesterday was nearly strangled on a low limb.

1966
A $7.5 million appropriation for construction of a federal pavilion at the 1968 HemisFair passed the Senate today.
