October 19 in San Antonio history...


1929
A "blanket tax" drive is being conducted at the San Antonio Junior College. Each student will, by paying the $5 tax, obtain admission to all athletic contests and subscriptions to school publications.

1939
Fifty-five policemen, released recently from active duty in a purge of the department, today were placed on the already overburdened rolls of the pension fund.

1949
Bexar County's brand new coliseum was "open for business" with the two-day performance of the Ringling Brothers - Barnum & Bailey Circus.
