October 12 in San Antonio history...

1889
The Alamo beer was put on the market today. Nearly every saloon tried it and nearly every customer of said saloons followed suit.



1899
This morning, at the beginning of the fifth day of the street car strike, the situation has become critical. Electricians of the Consolidated Electric interests have joined the striking motormen and conductors.



1949
The Fire and Police Civil Service Commission is studying a request for establishment of a Negro fire company. The suggestion was made by J.W. Hemmings, Community Council for Civil Action secretary.
