1911
Patrons of the free lunch must rally to its support if they hope to prevent its abolition. Restaurant men are seeking to eliminate it with the aid of state organizations.

1921
A permanent injunction restraining Mayor Black and the city commissioners from making Dr. L. L. Shropshir city health officer instead of Dr. W. A. King was granted in 73rd District Court.

1971
San Antonio has rolled out the red carpet and red roses to greet its hometown astronaut. The honoree was Col. David Scott, a local boy who literally skyrocketed to fame with the Gemini 8 and Apollo 9 space missions and commanded the July-August moon flight of Apollo 15.
