1907
The police matron's office in this city has been abolished by official act of the mayor. The position was created six years ago and has paid $65 per month.

1916
A fireproof building, expected to be one of the most handsome clubs in the South, will be erected by the San Antonio Country Club to replace its previous structure claimed by fire.

1936
The remodeled Rainbow Terrace on the St. Anthony's Hotel roof opened to a near capacity crowd last night.

1944
Operation Overlord begins with the largest invasion force the world has ever seen.
