1904
Constable Charles Stevens and City Marshall Irvin praised the county's new-fangled automobile for enabling to reach the scene of a crime seven miles from the Courthouse in just 40 minutes.

1945
M&S and P&S Hospitals announced they would merge their operations and use the same buildings on Romana Plaza and Madison Square.

1956
Rock and roll records were removed from juke boxes at city swimming pools because, according to the assistant parks director, of "undesirable incidents" which allegedly were caused by the music.
